Do mini splits heat as well as cool?
Yes, all modern mini splits are heat pumps that cool and heat. In San Diego's mild climate, heat performance is excellent year-round, you will not need backup heat for a well-sized system.
Can I install a mini split myself?
DIY kits exist, but refrigerant handling is EPA-regulated, a bad flare will leak and fail within a year, and warranty coverage is forfeited without licensed install. We'd rather not fix a bad DIY install, we'd rather install it right the first time.
